Chocolate Chip Cookies

  • 1 cup salted butter, room temperature
  • 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cup flour, spooned and leveled
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 12 oz pkg semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 handfuls of chopped pecans (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line cookie sheets with parchment or use silicone baking sheets.
In an electric mixer, cream butter, mix in sugars, add vanilla & eggs & mix. Gradually add flour, soda & salt. Mix until soft dough forms. Using spoon, stir in chocolate chips & pecans. Roll into 1 1/2 inch balls, bake 10-12 minutes. Cool on rack.
Makes about 40 cookies.

Just came back to add that these are the best chocolate chip cookies ever. The difference in these & Toll House cookies is the sugar ratio. Regular Toll House calls for 3/4 cup of each. These use 1 cup brown, 1/2 white. These are richer. Joanna Gaines recipe calls for only brown sugar but I found them too rich. I have hit on the perfect combo here. No brag, just fact. :)
